As the race for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election gathers momentum, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, will today present his development vision for the state in a live radio engagement scheduled for 10 a.m. on Fresh FM Ibadan, with other media houses expected to join the broadcast.

The appearance on Political Circuit, hosted by The Mayor Isaac Brown, will provide Adekanmbi an opportunity to explain his priorities to a wider audience and engage public attention on the policies and practical solutions he believes Oyo State needs.

With residents concerned about employment, the cost of living, security, local government administration, yourh empowerment, infrastructure and economic opportunities, the engagement presents an opportunity to examine how his proposed agenda would address these challenges.

A former Oyo State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning, Adekanmbi is expected to draw on his experience in public administration and financial management as he discusses issues including industrialisation, youth empowerment, technology and the effective use of public resources.

Who Is Bimbo Adekanmbi?
Abimbola Adekanmbi, FCCA, is a finance expert, international business consultant and policy strategist with more than two decades of professional experience across corporate management, public administration, financial consultancy and economic policy.

He holds an MBA in Strategy and Finance from Liverpool John Moores University, a B.Sc. in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University and a B.Sc. in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

His international corporate experience includes work involving organisations such as Accenture, IBM, Verizon Business, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Caterpillar Logistics and BG Group, with exposure to financial management, regulatory compliance, business transformation and complex financial systems.

In the United Kingdom, he served as Business Architect and Statutory Compliance Champion at Birmingham City Council, where his responsibilities included financial policies, statutory compliance and accounting systems. He also undertook assignments involving Middlesbrough Borough Council and policing institutions.

In Oyo State, Adekanmbi served as Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi. His public-service experience included involvement in development initiatives such as the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programmes, the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) and the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project (IUFMP), a World Bank-backed initiative.

He has also contributed to national economic policy as a member of the Digital Economy Policy Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), with policy work covering communications, digital technology and local content.

His stated development priorities include prudent public finance, digital governance, artificial intelligence, youth employment, entrepreneurship, technical and vocational education, improved service delivery and grassroots empowerment. He also advocates preserving effective policies from previous administrations while reforming areas that require improvement.

As the APM candidate for the 2027 governorship election, Adekanmbi presents his experience in finance, public administration and technology as a foundation for addressing Oyo State’s economic and social challenges.

His proposed approach places emphasis on financial discipline, accountable leadership, institutional continuity and measurable development outcomes.
