Fatal accident kills three, injures four in Port Harcourt

A fatal accident involving a minibus and a stationary truck has occurred along the Rumuokoro/Eliozu axis of the East/West Road in Port Harcourt, leaving three passengers dead and four severely injured.

Eyewitnesses report that the accident was a collision between the two vehicles, resulting in significant damage and loss of life.

One eyewitness attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure, which led to the collision between the two vehicles.

This was confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), led by Route Commander Amarachi C-Ekwere, Public Relations Officer, Port Harcourt Sector Command, who stated that the personnel of the command ensured the scene was properly cleared of debris and road obstructions were removed to prevent further accidents.

According to C-Ekwere, the tragic road traffic crash occurred on Monday, July 28, 2025, along the East-West Road, behind Bori Camp, at approximately 10:40 hours.

She said the accident involved a truck with registration number BRA454XA and a white minibus with registration number FGG801ZD, explaining that the impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the deaths of three persons, including a male child and two females.

She said, “When our operatives arrived the scene of the crash, they rushed the victims to University of Port Harcourt teaching Hospital (UPTH) where three persons (03) (two females, one male child) were confirmed dead.

“The corpses were deposited in a morgue in Port Harcourt. An eyewitness attributed the cause of the auto crash to brake failure. Our men ensured that the scene was properly cleared of debris and road obstructions removed.”
