2027: Yari rallies Northern Emirs for Tinubu, pledges inclusiveness

Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari,

The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has pledged an inclusive approach to President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, assuring traditional rulers and other stakeholders that they would be carried along in the party’s nationwide consultations.

Yari gave the assurance on Monday as he led a delegation of APC chieftains on visits to the Emirs of Gwandu, Katsina, Daura and Zaria as part of efforts to strengthen engagement with traditional institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The visits followed similar consultations on Sunday with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu-Gambari.

According to a statement from Yari’s media office, the engagements form part of a broader nationwide consultative tour to traditional and political leaders to build consensus and seek their prayers, blessings and counsel ahead of major campaign activities.

The statement said the campaign council was committed to maintaining cordial relations with traditional institutions and recognising their contributions to peace, unity and stability in the country.

Speaking during the visits, Yari said the council valued the role of traditional rulers in the nation’s political process, stressing that their moral authority and guidance remained important as the country prepared for another round of general elections.

He explained that the consultations were not intended to solicit political endorsements from the royal fathers but to seek their prayers, blessings and wise counsel.

Yari assured the traditional rulers that the campaign council would carry all stakeholders along in its preparations for the 2027 elections, emphasising the importance of broad-based engagement in the political process.

The former Zamfara State governor said the consultations reflected the council’s determination to engage relevant stakeholders across the country as it prepared for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

At the respective palaces, the royal fathers offered prayers for peace, unity and the success of Nigeria’s democratic journey.

The statement added that the nationwide consultations would continue as part of the council’s efforts to engage traditional and political leaders and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders ahead of the elections.

Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, was accompanied on the visits by several APC chieftains, including former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff; former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; and former Kebbi State Governor, Senator Adamu Aliero.

Others on the delegation were former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Ahmad Sani Yarima; former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko; and former Gombe State Governor, Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje.

Former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shehu was also listed among members of the delegation, alongside other party leaders.

The consultations represent part of the APC campaign council’s early engagement with influential traditional and political stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party seeking to broaden participation and strengthen its nationwide campaign structures.
