Bucci Franklin as Oboz in To Kill A Monkey

Here are five unforgettable life lessons from the series:

1. Be careful who you trust

The scene everyone is talking about

Oboz trusted Efemini with everything. He stood by him and even risked his life for him. Towards the end of the movie, he told hired killers they would have to kill him before they touched Femini. Sadly, the same Efemini turned around and betrayed him.

Lesson: Trust should be earned, not given blindly. Even those closest to you can change.

2. Money does not solve every problem

Efemini had everything—cars, power, and respect on the streets. But his life was still full of chaos. The money did not bring peace.

Lesson: Money may bring comfort, but it cannot fix your emotional wounds or give you peace of mind.

3. Pressure can push you into what you hate

Efemini never wanted to become a fraudster. But constant pressure from his mother-in-law, coupled with the frustration of poverty, broke him down. He eventually joined Oboz in his criminal dealings.

Lesson: Do not let hardship force you into a life you do not believe in. When you compromise your values, you lose yourself.

4. Pain is a normal part of life

Efemini faced daily insults and embarrassment. From family members to his workplace, he was treated like nothing. It made him believe pain was only for the poor.

Lesson: Everyone faces pain, whether rich or poor. It is part of life. What matters is how you handle it.

5. Someone who once saved you can still betray you

Oboz believed Efemini would never turn on him because he had once saved him in the past. He saw him as a brother. But betrayal came when he least expected it.

Lesson: People change. Situations change. Please do not hold on to past loyalty and expect it to last forever.
