The Remi Tinubu Support Organisation (RETSO) has appointed prominent lawyer and political strategist, Yakubu Abdullahi Hussaini Ruba (SAN), as a National Trustee, tasking him with driving grassroots enlightenment for the First Lady’s flagship Renewed Hope Initiative across Jigawa State and beyond.

The First Lady’s initiative, which has already disbursed ₦9.4 billion towards health programmes and humanitarian projects for women, youth, and children, is at the heart of RETSO’s mission to extend its influence nationwide and preserve Senator Remi Tinubu’s legacy of people-focused leadership.

Presenting the letters of appointment in Dutse, the organisation’s National Coordinator, Yusi Buba, said the goal was to strengthen grassroots engagement and sustain support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration ahead of 2027. “Our focus is on building a movement that reaches every community, ensuring the First Lady’s vision touches lives at the base of society,” Buba said.

In his acceptance speech, Ruba — a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, former Attorney-General of Jigawa State, and one of the 50 SANs who defended President Tinubu’s mandate at the Supreme Court — described the appointment as “an honour and a call to service.” He pledged the commitment of the newly appointed Jigawa State trustees to work tirelessly for RETSO’s success and to secure APC’s victory in future elections.

Other appointees include Ibrahim Babawo, who was named North-West Financial Secretary. The event also featured goodwill messages from Jigawa APC Deputy Chairman Nasiru Jahun and other party elders and stakeholders.

Ruba’s appointment comes after a distinguished career spanning law, governance, and grassroots politics. Known for never losing his ward in three decades of political mobilisation, he has served in high-profile roles, including Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State, and Member of the Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission.

With governors’ wives serving as state matrons of RETSO, the organisation plans to use its expanded national leadership to deepen outreach, sustain the Renewed Hope Initiative, and solidify APC’s grassroots base ahead of the next political cycle.
