Katsina gov begins three-week medical leave Monday

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, is to begin a three-week medical leave from August 18. A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Zango, said the vacation is to enable the governor to address health concerns.

It said Radda looks forward to returning to serve the people of the state with renewed energy and dedication. The commissioner said: “Governor Radda plans to begin his medical leave, starting Monday, 18th August 2025. He expressed his gratitude for the support, understanding and prayers from the good people of Katsina State.

“He emphasised his commitment to returning to serve the people of the state with renewed energy and dedication after this medical leave.”

The statement quoted the governor as saying, “I want to thank everyone for their kind words and ongoing support. Taking the necessary steps to prioritise my health is essential so I can continue to serve effectively and make the best decisions for our state. I look forward to returning to my duties as soon as I finish my medical check-up.”

It went on: “To ensure seamless governance and continued leadership, the Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal, has been designated to assume the responsibilities of the governor during his absence in an acting capacity.”
