A group within the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the APC Unity Frontiers, on Monday stated that the outcome of Saturday’s Ibadan North by-election could be replicated in the 2027 gubernatorial elections if the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, secures the party’s gubernatorial ticket.

The group stated this in a release signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Akindele Olatubosun, and Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adeniyi, while reacting to the Ibadan North Bye-election result.

According to the APC Unity Frontiers, the alleged sudden hijacking of the party’s ticket for Hon. Olatunji Adewale, also known as Murphy, affected the party’s chances in the election. While calling for a free, fair, and credible primary election, the group added that if Murphy were a neutral person and not someone handpicked, the election result would have been otherwise.

The group urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s national leadership to save the party from any form of hijack, which could result in failure in the 2027 general election.

“We urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the party at the national level to save the party from any form of hijack, which may result in failure in the 2027 general election,” the group said.
