New Kwara monarch, Alagunji of Agunjin, pledges peace, unity

The newly installed Alagunji of Agunjin in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Isiaka Adekeye III, has pledged to prioritise peace, unity, and development in his domain.

Oba Adekeye, who was presented with the staff of office by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on August 14 in Ilorin, called on his subjects to cooperate with him in advancing the progress of Agunjin and contributing to the overall development of Kwara State.

The monarch’s position was contained in a statement issued by the family’s spokesperson, Prince Oluwatoyin Adekeye. In the statement, Oba Adekeye said he would complement government’s peace-building efforts by fostering understanding among his people.

“Ascends the throne of Agunjin Land a new dawn breaks over Agunjin, a moment etched in gold in the annals of history as the crown of the Ariwajoye Adekeye Royal Dynasty returns to its rightful home,” the statement read. “With this homecoming, the living legacy of Agunjin’s royal heritage is renewed, strengthened, and destined to shine for generations to come.”

The Adekeye royal family also expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq, the Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and the Chairman of the Igbomina Traditional Rulers Forum, Oba Ismail Bolaji Yahaya, among others, for their support.

Oba Adekeye commended both the state government and his community members for the confidence reposed in him, promising to strengthen peace and cooperation in Agunjin.
