Architects seek TETFund’s support for capacity building, research

The Nigerian Institute of Architecture (NIA) has reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in key areas such as capacity building and support for research and innovation in architecture through sponsorship of NIA journals.

NIA president, Mobolaji Adeniyi, made the commitment when she led the NIA council and senior members of the institute on a courtesy visit to TETFund Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, in Abuja.

The visit, which was in line with the spirit of the ‘unite’ agenda of the institute, aimed at deepening institutional partnerships and exploring opportunities for infrastructure development in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

Adeniyi acknowledged the critical role TETFund plays in bridging the infrastructure gap in higher education and praised Echono’s visionary leadership, which she noted has significantly impacted the quality of learning environments across the country. She urged him to collaborate with NIA in organising Architectural Competitions for iconic projects in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Adeniyi said the engagement will not only strengthen the institutes’ ties with TETFund but also reaffirm the power of unity, collaboration, and purposeful leadership in driving the profession and education infrastructure sector forward.

Welcoming the NIA team, Echono expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged continued support for initiatives that promote architectural excellence and national development.

The executive secretary, who doubles as a past president of the NIA, promised to continue to support the NIA as a major stakeholder in its affairs.
