NEXT Radio Superstar Finalist, Melody Ifeanyi Adigo, popularly known as M.I.A, is celebrating her first anniversary at Soundcity 98.5 FM, marking a significant milestone in her dynamic radio career.
Her journey in broadcasting began in 2018 when she emerged in the Top 5 finalists in the Inspiration FM Next Radio Superstar competition.
Reflecting on her start, via a communique signed by her Public Relations Manager, David Adeyemi, M.I.A said, “From my first ‘Good evening, Ibadan!’ to where I am now, it’s been an incredible journey.
“I’ve always aimed to make radio feel alive.”
After joining Jamz 100.1 FM, Ibadan as an intern in 2019, MIA established herself with her contagious energy and natural chemistry with listeners, securing a full-time position in 2020. By 2021, M.I.A had moved to Beat 97.9 FM, Ibadan, where she honed her unique blend of vibrant personality and compelling storytelling.
In 2024, she reached a new pinnacle by joining Soundcity FM, a prominent platform known for youth culture.
“I found my perfect stage at Soundcity. This is where I can truly keep the airwaves buzzing,” MIA stated.
According to MIA, her programs aren’t just about playing music, as she values the connections formed through discussions with stars like Davido, Asake, and Joeboy, revealing deeper stories behind the artists.
In addition to her radio work, M.I.A hosts major events, including her own signature event, “Play with M.I.A.,” and participates in various high-profile platforms like Spotify Wrapped and Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
As for her drive, she said, “Wherever I go, I aim to create an electric vibe that the crowd can feed off.”
As M.I.A marks one year at Soundcity, she reflects on her evolution from a rookie in Ibadan to a respected voice in Nigeria’s media landscape. “Radio isn’t just a job; it’s a heartbeat for me. I want to inspire the next generation of voices to believe in the power of the mic,” she added.
Now, as she enters her second year, M.I.A is determined to continue owning her space in the radio frequency and making a lasting impact. “The Action Queen isn’t just on the air; I’m here to stay,” she declared.
