The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 70-year-old man, Lawan Sani, for allegedly sexually assaulting teenage girls in Unguwar Sarakuna, Bauchi.
According to the command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the septuagenarian was arrested “for multiple counts of sexual assault involving teenage girls.”
The case was reported on September 1, after a distress call led to Sani’s arrest at a house in Unguwar Sarakuna, where he worked as a watchman.
He was allegedly attempting to sexually abuse a 16-year-old girl at the time.
During the police interrogation, Sani confessed to having previously lured the minor into the same house with N500. Further investigation revealed that he had also sexually molested two other teenage girls using similar methods.
The police interviewed all three victims. They confirmed the allegations, disclosing that Sani had sexually abused them more than 15 times on different occasions. He had also threatened them to prevent them from telling anyone. Both the victims and the suspect underwent medical examinations.
