LASU alerts students about fake acceptance fee links

Lagos State University (LASU) has warned newly admitted students about ongoing scams involving fake payment links for acceptance fees.

LASU on Sunday tweeted that fraudsters are sending emails with counterfeit Paystack payment links, attempting to trick students into making payments that do not reach the University.

LASU confirmed that these links are fraudulent and not authorised by the institution.

The university noted that all acceptance fees and all other payments are to be made via the university website: http://lasu.edu.ng

LASU also reminded students, both new and returning, to confirm all official information through the University’s recognised channels.

The University urges all admitted candidates and the general public to verify information only on these platforms before taking any action.

LASU wrote, “The Management of Lagos State University has been alerted to fraudulent attempts by some individuals to deceive newly admitted students by sending emails containing fake payment links for the acceptance fee.

“Admitted students are strongly advised to note that the link to a Paystack platform currently being circulated via email is fake and does not originate from the University. Such messages should be disregarded immediately.

“For the avoidance of doubts, the acceptance fee and all other payments are to be made via the university website: http://lasu.edu.ng

“Students, both new and returning, are further reminded to verify all information relating to the University exclusively through the University’s official platforms.”
