Director seeks support for people living with disabilities

The Director, Resource Centre for the Blind, Mrs Temitayo Ayinla, has solicited support for people living with disabilities, noting that with the right support, people with visual impairments can thrive.

Ayinla made the appeal at the graduation and awards dinner of the centre held at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

She noted that the centre is to “restore hope and equip the blind, and not just to survive, but to thrive.

Ayinla said: “With the right support, everybody can thrive. Our graduates have turned limitations into strength, excellence, and purpose.”

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by Babatunde Sefiu of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, restated the government’s commitment to inclusion.

“Lagos State is committed to policies of inclusion, ensuring equal access and opportunities for individuals with disability. We must continue to invest in accessible education, assistive technology, and an enabling environment.”

The Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Dr Abdullahi Jebeh, encouraged Nigerians to support those in need.
