Fast-rising Afrofusion artist, Akiniz, has released his new single titled OMAHEMA, a song that tells the story of love, care and deep affection.
Born Victor Effiong Edet, Akiniz has been singing since childhood. He describes music as his life’s passion and something he cannot live without. “Music is my dream and I honestly don’t think I can do without it,” he said.
Speaking about the new song, Akiniz explained that OMAHEMA is about being in love and doing everything possible to make one’s partner happy. “It’s about caring for the person you love and making sure they don’t lack anything,” he noted.
The singer described his sound as a mix of Afrofusion and Afrostory, adding that he hopes to explore other styles, including a slower version of UK rap in the future.
Akiniz said his music carries a message of self-love and romance, encouraging listeners to embrace love and express it openly. He added that his motivation comes from watching other artists grow from humble beginnings to international success. “Seeing people who started from scratch and are now among the top names in the world motivates me not to stop,” he said.
The artist said one of his greatest moments is when fans connect emotionally with his songs. “I love it when I get messages from people saying my music reflects their feelings. It inspires me to do more,” he said.
Akiniz admitted that while it can be discouraging when songs do not reach a wide audience, he remains focused on improving his craft. “People may see me but not support yet, but sooner or later they will,” he said.
On collaboration, the OMAHEMA crooner said working with other artists can help gain new fans, but true growth comes from mastering one’s style and staying consistent. “You have to be good at what you do and engage more with your fans,” he said.
