Lagos HoS tasks civil servants on commitment to delivering effective service
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, commissioned 420 housing units in the Badagry area of the state, disclosing that it is the 24th housing estate with 10,000 homes brought to life by his administration.
Sanwo-Olu, who named the estate after a former Head of Service in the state, the late Sunny Akinsanya Ajose, said that the project created over 1,300 jobs, both directly and indirectly, during its construction phase.
He said that aside from the 1,300 direct and indirect jobs created during the estate construction, more jobs would come from managing the facilities and other estate services once everything is fully occupied.
” “Our dedication to thoughtful city planning, quality living, and sustainable development has also led us to kick off the groundbreaking for Phase II of this project. This new phase will dramatically change Badagry’s skyline with high-rise buildings that will be at least seven stories tall. It is a strategic move to make the most of our land resources, accommodate more families, and highlight the vast investment potential and untapped opportunities that exist in this corridor.
“In the past six years, we have successfully rolled out 23 housing estates, creating over 10,000 homes for people across all income levels—low, middle, and high—throughout the five divisions of the state. As we near the end of this administration, our commitment to closing the housing gap remains strong, focusing on smart infrastructure investments that push development beyond just the city centre,” the governor said.
MEANWHILE, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, yesterday, lauded the state’s civil servants for their contributions to the state, stating that the long service award is to motivate them to be more committed in delivering effective service in the state.
Agoro spoke during the Long Service Merit Award, which was held at the Adeyemi Bayero Auditorium, Alausa. The HoS said that the award was geared towards recognising and rewarding hard work and commitment.
He, however, congratulated the awardees and urged them not to relax, but to continue to exhibit the very traits for which they were recognised. Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Segun Osinaike, who was also a recipient of the award, expressed gratitude to the state government for recognising them for their service.
He urged the public servants to be diligent, dutiful, and always strive for excellence in the delivery of their service.
