Researchers laud Prof Dada’s global legacy as chemical science scholar

An internationally celebrated scholar, Professor Adewumi Oluwasogo Dada has joined the league of Nigerians making the country proud at the global stage through the brilliance of its homegrown talents.

Professor Dada has been recognised among the top one per cent chemical science researchers in Africa, bringing pride not only to the nation but to the African continent at large.

According to the testimonies of experts, Professor Dada’s research has become a benchmark for excellence, with his ground-breaking contributions in nanotechnology, carbon-based materials, environmental sustainability, and wastewater remediation.

Prof O. S. Bello of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), who extolled the don’s feat, said his work does not only push scientific boundaries but also addresses pressing challenges of clean energy, sustainable development, and environmental protection issues central to Nigeria’s growth and the world’s future.

Ranked by the AD Scientific Index as one of Africa’s leading researchers and listed on SCIVAL among the top 500 researchers in Nigeria, Professor Dada has carved his name into the annals of scientific leadership.

Reports have it that his global journey has been marked by prestigious accolades, including the highly competitive Post-doctoral Fellowship of The World Academy of Science (TWAS) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), hosted at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad.

Back home, he was named the 2024 National Best Young Researcher in Chemical Sciences by the Nigeria Young Academy (NYA), a testament to his unrivalled impact on the nation’s scientific landscape.

His recognition as the Best Researcher with the Highest Google Scholar Citations at Landmark University, further establishes him as one of Nigeria’s most cited and influential scientists.

The Chairman, Kwara State Chapter of Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Prof. O. S. Oguntoye of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), said the recent conferment of Professional Fellowship of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (FCSN) crowns Professor Dada’s growing list of honours, underscoring his standing as a national treasure and international authority.

More than an individual achievement, reports have it that his success reflects the strength and potential of Nigerian science. Through mentorship, research, and innovation, it was learnt that this scholar is inspiring the next generation of young Nigerian scientists to dream bigger and aim higher.

Prof Oguntoye noted that with his achievements so far, within and outside the country, Professor Dada’s journey has demonstrated that Nigerian researchers are not only capable of competing at the highest levels but of leading global conversations in science and innovation.
