Nnaji urges investment in AI, teacher empowerment

Renowned engineer and entrepreneur, Professor Barth Nnaji, has called on the Federal Government and sub-national authorities to make deliberate investments in technology-driven education by providing a computer for every public-school teacher in Nigeria, beginning from the primary level.

Speaking at a public lecture organised by Independent Newspapers to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Free Universal Primary Education (UPE) in Nigeria, the Chairman and CEO of Geometric Power Group emphasised that Nigeria must embrace Artificial Intelligence revolution if it hopes to catch up with the rest of the world in education and development.

“I repeat my call for a computer for every public-school teacher in Nigeria. AI is the way the world is going, and Nigeria must not be left behind. The journey should begin from primary school,” he said.
Nnaji, who is a former Minister of Power and a recipient of the National Order of Merit, recalled making a similar appeal during the Fafunwa Memorial Lecture in September.
