HP unveils new innovation, AI tools to ease AEC professionals workflow

HP has introduced a suite of new innovative products aimed at transforming how professionals in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) collaborate across digital and physical environments seamlessly.

The launch includes the HP DesignJet T870 printer, expanded HP Build Workspace with mobile-enabled scanning and AI-powered vectorisation, and the HP SitePrint SMR prism, a precision accessory for construction layout.

The new releases reflect HP’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence, sustainability, and security into workplace tools as industries adapt to hybrid work and tighter project timelines.

The versatility of the new HP DesignJet T870 also extends beyond AEC into sectors such as retail and education, where hybrid teams need compact, sustainable devices that can support diverse applications, while fitting into modern work environments.

SVP and Division President, HP Large Format Printing, Daniel Martinez, explained that AEC professionals have always built the future, but today, creativity is too often slowed by barriers, bureaucracy and disconnected workflows.

“The world has changed, and so should the way they build and work. HP is fast-forwarding the industry into a new era where workflows, teams, and ideas move seamlessly from physical to digital, from vision to reality,” he said.

Martinez said the company is committed to helping professionals work smarter and faster through secure, sustainable printing and Al-powered design workflows.

“Today’s announcements transform how teams in diverse industries collaborate across offices, studios and worksites, freeing them to focus on what matters most-designing and building the world around us,” he said.

At the center of the launch is the HP DesignJet T870, a compact 24-inch printer built for hybrid and space-constrained work environments.

The new tool is targeted at AEC, education and retail professionals, as well as supports a variety of print sizes and offers improved energy efficiency.

Martinez said HP has also expanded its Build Workspace platform with AI vectorisation and mobile scanning capabilities, enabling users to digitize and convert legacy drawings into CAD-ready files directly from HP DesignJet multifunction printers.

He said the company’s new features can reduce manual drafting time by up to 80 per cent, enhance data security, and allow teams to work more efficiently across dispersed locations.

He also noted that integration with HP Click Solutions means users can print directly from Build Workspace, streamlining the design-to-output process.

“In 2026, users of HP Z Workstations will be able to perform vectorisation locally, with speeds expected to double compared to current cloud-based workflows,” he said.

HP said it plans to expand SitePrint’s applications to interior finishing and other precision marking tasks in 2026, underscoring its ongoing investment in automation and digital tools for construction professionals.

On global rollout, the company said its HP DesignJet T870 printer will be available globally from October 22, 2025, the expanded HP Build Workspace and trial access for new DesignJet MFPs will roll out through authorised resellers from November 3, 2025, while the HP SitePrint SMR prism will be available in November 2025.
