Kano State has leapt in Nigeria’s 2025 Subnational Climate Governance Performance Ranking.

Its rise from 35th position last year to an impressive fourth place marks one of the most remarkable improvements ever achieved by any state in the country’s climate governance history.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin, yesterday.

According to the statement, the outstanding performance reflects the governor’s visionary leadership.

‎Representing Governor Abba Yusuf at the official unveiling of the 2025 ranking in Abuja, the Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr Dahiru Hashim, said the recognition underscores his principal’s steadfast commitment to sustainable development and responsible environmental management.

‎Besides, the state has also recorded a major leap in its digital transformation journey, as the Kano State Information Technology Development Agency (KASITDA) secured $50,000 worth of cloud credits for top-performing startups at the HEAT Hackathon 2025.

In another statement by the spokespersons, the event was held on October 11, 2025, at the E-Health Africa Auditorium, Kano.
