Teenager denies sexual abuse allegation against Kwara PDP chieftain

A teenage girl, Kamardeen Aishat, who was last month quoted in an online publication as having accused a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo, of sexual abuse, has denied the report, describing it as untrue.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, Aishat said she was never abused by Esinrogunjo, whom she described as a benefactor who had supported her education financially.

She explained that her parents were embarrassed and disturbed by the report alleging that the PDP chieftain sexually abused her. Aishat, who will turn 18 in February next year, described the publication as “false, politically motivated, and an attempt to tarnish the image of Esinrogunjo.”

She recalled meeting him when she was facing serious financial challenges in pursuing her education and was advised to seek his assistance because he was known in the neighbourhood and beyond for his generosity.

“I was never sexually abused by anyone. The rumours circulating online are false and politically driven. People should disregard the report,” she said. Her father, Mr Kamardeen, described his daughter as a well-disciplined and well-brought-up girl.

“When I first heard that one ‘Aisha Kamardeen’ had been sexually abused, I didn’t even think it could ever be my daughter. The publication mentioned a 15-year-old, but my daughter will be 18 in February next year.

I can boldly tell you all here that the story was cooked up to tarnish the image of someone who has been helping the less privileged,” he said.
