Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has promised to fulfil his electoral promises by executing people-oriented projects. Okpebholo spoke after inspecting several ongoing projects as part of activities to mark his first anniversary in office.
Among the projects inspected by the governor are the ongoing Adesuwa Junction flyover, the 32-kilometre Benin-Sapele Highway, the completed Army Day Secondary School, the Internal roads in Ogheghe Community, the 23-kilometre old Benin-Sapele Highway, the construction of Oba Erediauwa Road, and the construction of the Ekiuwa-Ugbowo road, among others.
At the Army Day Secondary School, Okpebholo stated that he would ensure all classrooms are connected to off-grid solar power, as well as provide adequate security.
Addressing journalists, the governor stated that the projects were aimed at making Benin City beautiful. He said: “As you can see, we are working and the money does not come from my pocket.”
“The money is given to us to work, and for us the idea is to beautify our state to make it a modern city where everybody can come and wine.
“I have no other business here than to develop the city and build new roads for our people to enjoy.” That is the essence, and that is why you are seeing we are working all day and night.”
