Sokoto-Badagry road will enhance South-West economy, says lawmaker

The lawmaker representing Egbado South and Ipokia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly has assured Nigerians, particularly the South-West region, that the ongoing construction of the Sokoto-Badagry federal road will be completed before the expiration of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He disclosed that Ogun State will benefit immensely from such development, as the road will open up more economic activities in terms of farm produce and boost the internally generated revenue of the state when completed.

Akinlade was speaking yesterday at the foundation-laying ceremony of two other ultra-modern palaces in both Ilobi and Alaari in Egbado South and Ipokia Federal Constituency of Ogun State.

Recall that the initiative started last year, and more than 16 towns and their traditional rulers have benefited from phase I and phase II of the initiative, which will be completed and commissioned by April this year.

The lawmaker stated that the effort is to preserve and protect the customs and cultural heritage of traditional institutions in the country, as well as involve traditional rulers in governance.

According to him, work is at an advanced stage, and in the next three to four months, the place will be completed and ready for use, noting that this is a novel idea for peace and tranquillity to reign in society.

Akinlade stated that the initiative will help traditional institutions contribute their quota to the development of society and preserve the cultural heritage and customs of the people.

He added that as a proud Yoruba with a rich cultural background, it is expected that traditional rulers should have modern palaces befitting of their status.
