President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in the Dorayi Chiranci Quarters of Kano State, describing the act as barbaric and unacceptable.
Commending the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for the swift arrest of the principal suspects, the President directed security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure diligent prosecution of the perpetrators.
He stressed that such heinous crimes have no place in Nigerian society, and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting life and property, as well as ensuring that justice is served.
Tinubu also urged law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing violent crimes, while calling on communities to cooperate with security operatives by providing timely and credible information to safeguard lives.
Similarly, the Kano State government has confirmed taking over the prosecution of the suspects.
The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude (SAN), made the announcement yesterday at a press briefing.
He said the decision was on the backdrop of a directive by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, stating that the government considered the gravity of the incident and the need for decisive legal action and a transparent judicial process to restore public confidence.
Maude described the tragic incident as a senseless act that has left the entire state in mourning, vowing that the Governor Yusuf-led administration would ensure justice.
