Ganduje arrives Nigeria to welcome Kano governor to APC

FORMER National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has returned to Nigeria ahead of a major political realignment in Kano State.

Ganduje, who arrived from London earlier on Monday after attending his daughter Fatima’s graduation ceremony at King’s College, is expected to lead a mass defection of Kwankwasiyya loyalists to the APC.

After months of speculation, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf is set to consolidate his political alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress following his resignation from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).

Governor Yusuf is expected to officially unveil the APC broom symbol at the Government House today and subsequently inaugurate the party’s electronic registration exercise at the Coronation Hall, also within the Government House complex. He will be joined by Ganduje and other members of the APC leadership.

In a statement issued by Comrade Garba Muhammad, Chief of Staff to the former APC National Chairman, Ganduje arrived in Abuja aboard a British Airways flight at about 5:30 a.m. on Monday and is expected to proceed to Kano later in the day to commence a series of major political engagements in the state.

Garba said the former governor is scheduled to participate in the APC’s electronic registration of members, a programme he initiated during his tenure as national chairman of the party.

“He is also expected to play a prominent role in activities surrounding the planned reception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who is set to formally defect to the APC,” the statement said.

The developments are seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen party structures and consolidate recent political realignments within Kano State
