Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has addressed allegations that he abandoned his children with his estranged wife, May Edochie.

Speaking during an interview on the KaTruths podcast, the actor denied claims of neglect and insisted that he maintains contact with his children.

He explained that his decision not to post them on social media is linked to an existing court directive tied to his ongoing divorce proceedings.

He said, “I’ve heard a lot of things, people saying he abandoned his children. I just read sometimes and laugh. Did my children ever come to me or anybody to complain? It’s funny. I’m in contact with my children.

“My second son just got into the university months ago. He just did his matriculation a few days back and we were communicating. In fact, he told me about it the day before, and I said, why didn’t you tell me this ahead of time, like four, five days or a week? I’m a very busy man. I’m doing politics. I’m doing acting. I’m doing a lot of things so that I can come.

“He told me one thing. I can’t even remember the excuse he gave to me, but he told me about it a day before, and I think same thing with his mother as well. I said, okay, congratulations. You’re 17. That’s my age when I got into university as well. Of course, my parents were not even there when I did matriculation. So time for you to be a man. If you had told me earlier, I would have been there. Best of luck, bro. I wish you the best.

“I said, send me pictures when you guys are done. This is my son. Same one they said he’s not communicating with. You can’t set camera to debunk everything. If I start doing that, I’ll lose focus. Even today, I had a chat with my son and I sent him money today. I’ll show you, I sent him money. He said pocket money. I sent it to his mother so that she keeps record of it.

“I am in contact with my children because no matter what happens, it shouldn’t affect the children.”

He further noted that legal restrictions prevent him from publicly sharing content involving his children.

“Let me just chip this in as well. There’s also a court order going on. So that’s why I can’t really speak about things, saying that anything that has to do with my children, I shouldn’t post for their own safety. That one is 17, then there’s still the one that is about eight or nine. I can’t go about posting; they said no more posting. So that’s why you see, it’s not like I don’t love them. That’s my blood. I take care of people that I don’t even know every day of my life. How much more my own children?”
