Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO)

The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has strengthened its revenue collection process with the introduction of a digital payment platform aimed at improving customer satisfaction across its franchise states.
The new technology, tagged the Self-Service ATM-Enabled Payment Kiosk, is designed to modernise electricity bill payments while enhancing operational efficiency and customer experience.

Unveiling the platform on Friday, KEDCO Managing Director, Abubakar Shuaibu-Jimeta, said the initiative aligns with the company’s drive to digitalise its payment systems for improved efficiency and service delivery.
Jimeta explained that the innovation forms part of management’s shared vision to expand business development and plug revenue leakages through technology-driven solutions.
According to him, the ATM-enabled payment kiosks will be deployed across KEDCO commercial centres in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states, providing customers with alternative and convenient payment options.

“The introduction of this payment system is a milestone that reflects our partnership approach and our vision of putting customers first. Once customers are satisfied, business flows more smoothly. This is part of our commitment to digitisation,” he said.
“The innovation is meant to ease transactions, build customer trust and ensure that the tools we deploy are convenient and customer-friendly.”

Speaking on the technology, the service provider’s team lead, Chioma Eugenia Iwuagwu, assured that the firm is committed to deploying secure and scalable digital solutions to enhance institutional efficiency and elevate customer experience.
She said the company is partnering with KEDCO to deliver a platform that enables secure electricity bill payments, instant token vending, account management and other essential services with efficiency and reliability.

Iwuagwu added that when fully deployed, the platform would reduce congestion at payment points, stressing that the technology is not intended to replace jobs but to improve efficiency.
She further noted that the new revenue-generating platform is critical to economic growth, social development, public safety and national security.
