Police nab two suspected kidnappers in Ondo

Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Ondo State Command, have arrested two suspected kidnappers, who were members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating in various parts of the state.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Sindiku, 25, and Oliver Okoh, 35, were arrested in Sabo Sango, Ado Road and Ilado Community in the Akure North Local Council Area of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abayomi Jimoh, the alleged kidnappers were apprehended by the command’s anti-kidnapping unit after acting on what he described as credible tracking analysis and technical intelligence.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspects, who are currently assisting the police with useful information, were apprehended in connection with an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping case within the state.

While stating that the motorcycles with which the suspects used to provide logistics support for their operations were also recovered, Abayomi assured that other fleeing members of the syndicate will be apprehended.

He said, “The Ondo State Police Command has recorded a significant operational breakthrough in its sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state. This development reaffirms the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, which continues to underpin its proactive and intelligence-driven approach to crime prevention and enforcement.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects belong to a kidnapping syndicate. They reportedly used their motorcycles for reconnaissance, gathering information about potential targets, and providing logistics support, including supplying food and other operational accessories to members of the syndicate.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Adebowale Lawal, reassured residents that the Command remains resolute and is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property throughout Ondo State.

“Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely, credible and actionable information to security agencies.”
