Insecurity: Kano to construct tollgates on major entry roads

The Kano State Government has unveiled plans to construct tollgates on major roads leading into the state metropolis to strengthen security and boost socio-economic activities.

The Commissioner for Housing Development, Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, disclosed the plan during the official handover of seven project sites to contractors for construction.

In a statement issued by the ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Adamu Abdullahi, the commissioner said the initiative underscored the government’s resolve to enhance the state’s security apparatus through effective monitoring of vehicular movement into
Kano.

He urged the contractors to ensure timely completion of the projects in line with the stipulated deadlines.

The handover ceremony, held at the seven project locations, was attended by the Commissioner for Works
and Infrastructure, Marwan Ahmed, and the Commissioner for Public Procurement and Monitoring, Nura
Ma’aji.

The proposed tollgate sites are located along Daura Road, Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, Hadejia Road and Sa’adatu Rimi.
