
A Federal High Court in Kano has directed the Kano State Government to pay N30 billion for the unlawful demolition of structures at the Kofar-Mata Eid-ground.

Also, the court issued a seven-day ultimatum for the payment to be made by the Kano State government.
Justice Simon Amobeda, while considering the state government’s motion for a stay of execution, ordered the debtors to deposit the sum in the court’s interest-yielding account.
The deposited amount, along with interests and after deducting charges, will be paid to the winning party in the appeal, as determined by the Deputy Chief Registrar.

The state’s Attorney-General, however, expressed dissatisfaction, stating the government’s intention to appeal the decision at the Court of Appeal.
Kano state government embarked on a demolition spree of public property sold by the immediate past administration.
The NNPP government had accused former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of illegally selling public property without following due process.
