MEA Energy has pledged to create between 3,000 and 8,000 jobs over the next five years as part of its expansion into Nigeria’s retail fuel sector, starting with its newly opened station in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer Chinenye Atanda said the jobs would have a multiplier effect, supporting families, enabling children to attend school, and addressing hunger. She added that the company aims to contribute meaningfully to both local communities and the national economy.
“The Bwari station is not just a fuel outlet; it is a pathway to economic empowerment and community development. Our operations will prioritise employment for locals, ensuring they directly benefit from the company’s growth,” Atanda said.
She also highlighted MEA Energy’s commitment to Nigeria’s energy transition, noting that all retail stations will incorporate solar power to ensure energy security while gradually moving toward cleaner energy solutions. Atanda emphasized that trust, quality, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards remain central to the company’s retail operations.
“Customers can expect accurate measurement, transparent pricing, and high safety standards across all our stations,” she added.
Chief Commercial Officer Chris Vassilopoulos disclosed that another station would soon open in Silesia, Niger State, with the company targeting at least 50 stations nationwide by this time next year.
The launch was attended by the Sarkin Bwari, Alhaji Awwal Musa Ijakoro, who described the project as a major milestone for the community.
“This filling station sits on my land—almost two hectares—and we commission it with the hope that it will benefit everyone. I pray that Allah blesses those who built it and their partners. As leaders, it is our duty to ensure nothing goes wrong here, including protecting the people who will work at the station,” he said.
