The Erinja Elite Youth Group has commended Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun as he bowed out as Nigeria’s 22nd Inspector-General of Police on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Speaking in a statement co-signed by its president Tolu Akinwunmi and the Media and Publicity Secretary, Dotun Akintomide, the group said Egbetokun’s tenure marked a historic milestone as the first Inspector-General of Police of Ogun State origin.
Akinwunmi noted that the former police chief’s appointment brought pride to Erinja, the Yewa axis, and Ogun State at large.
According to the group, Egbetokun’s leadership of the Nigeria Police Force was defined by a focus on institutional reform, professionalism, and intelligence-driven policing.
The group said his tenure witnessed efforts to strengthen police intelligence structures, expand tactical capacity, improve manpower through recruitment, enhance officers’ welfare, and advance digital and investigative policing frameworks.
They added that these initiatives were pursued amid complex national security challenges, with emphasis placed on improved training, better funding, and institutional accountability within the police.
The youth group also referenced commendations by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who had earlier praised Dr. Egbetokun’s dedication to internal security and reforms in the police force.
The group described Egbetokun as an inspiration to youths in Erinja and the wider Yewa community, saying his career demonstrated that discipline, integrity, and commitment could lead to the highest levels of national service.
The group wished the former Inspector-General, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, success in his future endeavours.
