Stakeholder canvasses stronger communication ahead NANTA’s AGM

The Chief Executive Officer of Aeroport Group, Dr Oludayo Gideon, has called for stronger inter-zonal communication and institutional continuity as the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) prepares for its 50th yearly general meeting (AGM).

Gideon, who is nominee for the National Publicity Secretary of the association, made the call during a series of engagements across NANTA’s zones nationwide, where he interacted with members and stakeholders.

In an interview with journalists earlier in the week in Lagos, he said that responsible representation of members’ interests at both national and international platforms was necessary for the growth of any organisation, including NANTA.

Gideon, a two-term Lagos Zonal public relations officer of NANTA, noted that the association’s golden jubilee AGM presented an opportunity to reposition NANTA for greater institutional strength.

According to him, during his tenure as Lagos Zonal PRO, he represented NANTA at the 2024 edition of the World Travel Market (WTM) London, where Nigeria’s delegation achieved notable international visibility, while also participating in most positive developments for the organisation.

The travel expert commenced his engagements in Lagos during the zone’s AGM, which marked the end of tenure for outgoing executives.

The transition process, overseen by members of the Board of Trustees, featured formal handover proceedings and recognition of officers who completed their terms.

He subsequently visited the Eastern Zone in Port Harcourt, where a new executive committee was elected.

While congratulating both outgoing and incoming officers, Gideon underscored the need for structured information flow among zones and stronger collaboration with regulators and airline operators to protect members’ interests.

A notable moment at the Eastern Zone AGM was the election of Emmanuel Ossai as Zonal Public Relations Officer.

Gideon’s consultations also extended to the Northern Zone in Kano, the Abuja Zone and the Western Zone in Ibadan.
