Police launch operation after four abducted on Igbeti–Kishi Road in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of four persons along the Igbeti–Kishi Road in the Oke-Ogun area of the state.

The command said security operations had been intensified to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident to journalists yesterday in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said that upon receiving reports of the abduction, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in charge of Kishi and Igbeti divisions to mobilise personnel and deploy operational resources to the area.

According to him, the operation is being supported by other tactical teams deployed to strengthen search efforts and ensure the safe rescue of the victims.

Security operatives, he added, are combing surrounding forests and neighbouring communities as part of a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.

“The Commissioner of Police immediately directed the Divisional Police Officers of Kishi and Igbeti divisions, supported by other tactical teams, to deploy all necessary operational assets to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the prompt arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators,” Ayanlade said.

He added that intelligence gathering had been intensified in the area as part of efforts to track down the suspects and dismantle any criminal network responsible for the attack.

“Coordinated search and rescue efforts are currently underway, with security operatives combing the surrounding areas and intensifying intelligence gathering to track down the suspects,” he said.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to the safety of residents and urged members of the public to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist ongoing operations.
