As North-West backs Tinubu

The France Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally welcomed the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, into the ruling party, hailing his defection as a major political milestone that strengthens President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s national coalition.

In a statement issued from Paris, the chapter chairperson, Amina Suzuki, said Governor Lawal’s decision reflects growing confidence among political leaders and citizens in President Tinubu’s reform-driven leadership and vision for Nigeria.

Suzuki highlighted that the defection represents a key consolidation of support in the North-West geopolitical zone, historically a decisive factor in presidential elections.

“The North-West remains one of Nigeria’s most influential voting blocs. With this political realignment in Zamfara, it is clear that President Tinubu’s leadership and policies are gaining broad acceptance across the region,” the statement read.

The chapter stressed that Lawal’s entry into the APC is not merely a personal political move but also a strong endorsement of the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda, further solidifying the party’s structure ahead of upcoming elections.

“As members of the APC in the diaspora, we view this development as confirmation that the North-West is rallying behind President Tinubu. The people of the region recognise the importance of stability, economic reform, and national unity championed by this administration,” Suzuki added.

The APC France Chapter also announced that Governor Lawal will be honoured as its Patron Designate, in recognition of his leadership role and his commitment to joining the progressive family.

Suzuki concluded by pledging that diaspora members will continue to mobilise support, promote the Tinubu administration’s achievements globally, and collaborate with stakeholders across Nigeria to consolidate democratic gains.

She urged political leaders and citizens nationwide to rally behind the APC-led government to sustain reforms, strengthen national security, and drive economic recovery.
