The quiet shift in Detty December Lagos: How Techmas Village redefined family entertainment

December in Lagos has a rhythm. It is loud. It is bright. It is fast. Detty December Lagos has become shorthand for concerts, nightlife, traffic that refuses to move, and social calendars that barely leave room to breathe.

In Lekki Phase 1 this past December, however, a different kind of gathering quietly took shape.

Techmas Village by Enzo opened its doors for two weeks, welcoming close to 4,000 visitors over the festive period. Families arrived curious about the concept. Tourists exploring things to do in Lagos in December stopped in. Friends came looking for something different from the usual Detty December rhythm.

Inside the space, the technology was immediately visible, immersive virtual reality arenas, augmented reality challenges, and competitive games that blurred the line between parent and child.

But the moments people seemed to remember most were simpler.

A father hesitating before trying VR for the first time, only to burst into laughter as his children coached him through the game. Teenagers setting their phones aside because something happening in front of them felt more interesting. Mothers cheering louder than expected during family competitions.

For a brief window during Detty December Lagos, screens stopped isolating people. They became shared experiences.

“Techmas Village was born from a passion to bring communities together through technology in a way that didn’t feel cold or distant,” the Enzo team shared. “We wanted a space where a village community meets tech, where parents and children can explore the future together.”

Enzo Reality continues to host immersive experiences and community-driven events in Lekki Phase 1

The busiest stretch, from Christmas Day through early January, gradually transformed the venue into something resembling a small community square. Visitors returned. Friends brought colleagues. International guests looking for family activities in Lagos discovered a space that felt both experimental and familiar.

Powered by NSIA Insurance, the idea was simple: create an environment where technology encouraged participation rather than observation, and Lagos responded.

Following the December run, Enzo Reality has begun preparing a larger, purpose-built space still within Lekki Phase 1, designed to expand immersive arenas and introduce robotics and AI-driven environments alongside year-round programming built around play, learning, and community.

If Detty December Lagos has long been associated with noise and spectacle, Techmas Village offered a different kind of story one centred on gathering, participation, and curiosity about what entertainment might look like next.

Curious about what comes next, Enzo Reality continues to host immersive experiences and community-driven events in Lekki Phase 1.

Details on upcoming activities can be found at www.enzoreality.com , with regular updates shared across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook.
