Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, has lauded the recent presentation of N2.4 billion in cheques to families of fallen police officers by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Disu.

He described it as a profound demonstration of compassion and institutional responsibility, noting that such gestures significantly boost morale within the force.

He also lauded the IGP’s leadership, welfare initiatives and reform agenda.

Dr Ogunsan, who spoke during a visit at the Force Headquarters (FHQ) in Abuja, lauded the police chief’s described Disu’s appointment as a defining moment for policing in Nigeria.

The name, Disu, he noted, is synonymous with excellence, discipline and high standards in policing.

He added that the IGP’s emergence was widely regarded as a strategic development, bringing years of sterling service and commendable personal qualities to the forefront of national security leadership.

Commending the IGP’s people-focused approach, particularly his efforts towards improving the welfare of officers and men, the LSSTF boss also praised the ongoing reform initiatives under Disu’s leadership, describing them as bold and forward-looking.

He praised the prompt promotion of 84 senior officers, which included the new 13 AIGs and 17 CPs, noting steady professional growth as something that spurs every officer to greater works.

The LSSTF boss highlighted the emphasis on professionalism, accountability and exemplary policing leadership, as well as the renewed commitment to upholding discipline across ranks, as critical steps towards rebuilding public trust and enhancing operational effectiveness.

He reaffirmed LSSTF’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with the police, particularly in supporting modern policing infrastructure and community-based security initiatives.

Responding, IGP Disu expressed appreciation for the visit and for Lagos’ consistent support to policing efforts.

He reiterated his resolve to prioritise personnel welfare, deepen institutional reforms, and strengthen discipline within the force, assuring Nigerians of improved safety and security nationwide.
