The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has received 10 additional operational pickup vehicles to strengthen security operations across the state.
The vehicles were donated by Mikano International Limited as part of what the company described as its commitment to supporting Lagos State’s security infrastructure and promoting public–private collaboration.
The official handover took place at the Mikano Motors showroom in Victoria Island, Lagos, where the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mikano International Ltd, Mr Mofid Karameh, received top LSSTF officials led by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Ayo Ogunsan. The delegation was also taken on a tour of the showroom.
Karameh commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for what he described as sustained investment in safety and security, saying the efforts were translating into increased prosperity for the state.
He said the governor’s engagement with private sector leaders at a recent breakfast meeting created an opportunity for businesses to better understand government initiatives in the security sector, adding that Mikano would continue to support efforts aimed at strengthening Lagos’ security architecture.
The National Operations Manager of Mikano, Syam Abdulkadir, who conducted the handover, said the donation reflected the company’s long-standing commitment to the safety of residents.
“We are here today at the Mikano Motors showroom in VI Lagos to proudly show our support for the LSSTF by donating our Max pickup vehicles. This is a sign of our support to ensure the safety of Lagosians,” he said.
Abdulkadir noted that Mikano’s more than three decades of operations in Nigeria underscored its dedication to nation-building.
“We have been in Nigeria for the past three decades. This is a show of commitment that we are here to help build our economy and promote security,” he added.
Receiving the vehicles, Ogunsan thanked Mikano for responding to the state’s call for increased private-sector participation in security initiatives.
“This is a proud moment for Lagos. This is a proud moment for Mikano and for our organisation, LSSTF,” he said.
He recalled that the governor’s recent engagement with chief executives at the LSSTF Breakfast Meeting laid the groundwork for the donation.
“This entire process started with the Chief Fundraiser, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who mobilised everyone at the breakfast meeting to make donations to the LSSTF,” Ogunsan said.
