Nigerian singer, Adekunle Kosoko, also known as Adekunle Gold, has hinted at a long-awaited collaboration with his former label boss, Olamide, years after leaving the label.
The singer made this known in a post shared on his Instagram page, where he teased what appears to be their first official track.
“First time, me and @olamide Formation. April 9,” he wrote.

Adekunle Gold was signed to Olamide’s YBNL label in the mid-2010s, a period that played a key role in shaping his early career.
Under the label, he rose to prominence with his breakout single Sade, which introduced his blend of highlife and contemporary Afrobeats to a wider audience. Despite working closely with Olamide at the time, the pair never released a joint track.
Adekunle Gold eventually exited the label in 2016, going on to build a successful independent career marked by sonic evolution and international recognition.
Olamide, on the other hand, continued to expand YBNL into one of the most influential labels in the country, nurturing a new generation of artists.
The possibility of a collaboration gained attention in December when Olamide made a surprise appearance at Adekunle Gold’s concert at the National Theatre Lagos.
At the event, Olamide introduced Adekunle Gold on stage.
With the April 9 date now revealed, anticipation continues to build around what the collaboration could deliver.
Both artists have evolved significantly since their YBNL days. Adekunle Gold has refined his sound, moving from alternative highlife to a more global Afrobeats style, while Olamide has remained a dominant force in Nigerian music, constantly adapting and influencing new trends.
This upcoming release brings them into a creative space they never explored during their years together under the same label, despite their close working relationship at the time.
The track would mark their first official collaboration, years after Adekunle Gold’s departure from YBNL.
