Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo

The police in Ogun State have arrested Oluwadamilare Ewedemi, a father, in Ijebu-Ode area of the state for allegedly abusing and impregnating his daughter five times.

The abuse began in 2019, with the suspect allegedly procuring illegal abortions for each pregnancy.

The 21-year-old survivor (names withheld) reported her father to the Ifo Division of the Ogun State Police Command.

According to her, she lost her mother as an infant and was placed in a motherless home in Ikeja, Lagos State, by her father. He later took her to Ijebu-Ode in 2019 under the pretence of guardianship.

She alleged that her father had sexually been abusing her since 2019 and continued the abuse over several years, leading to five pregnancies that he helped her to abort.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that the survivor escaped from her father’s residence on Sunday, February 1, 2026, due to excessive harassment, relocating to a church in Pakoto Mountain.

He said: “On March 26, a 21-year-old woman reported at Ifo Division that she had been subjected to sexual abuse by her biological father.

“During this period, she became pregnant five times, and her father reportedly procured an abortion for each pregnancy.

“Thanks to the swift and decisive leadership of Ifo Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Kamorudeen, as operatives of the Division acted immediately on a tip-off and successfully arrested the suspect, Oluwadamilare Ewedemi.”

Babaseyi further said that the suspect had been in custody, and the case forwarded to the Gender Desk for comprehensive investigation and prosecution as preliminary inquiries continue.
