JAMB sets stage for 2026 UTME as 2.2 million candidates prepare nationwide

UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has announced full readiness for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled to hold from April 16 to 22 across the country.

The examination, which serves as a critical gateway into tertiary institutions in Nigeria, will see no fewer than 2.2 million candidates participating in the nationwide exercise across 966 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

According to the Board, 23 CBT centres were recently delisted following poor performance during the Mock-UTME exercise, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen examination integrity and improve service delivery.

Slip Printing and Examination Logistics

JAMB has urged all candidates who are yet to print their examination notification slips to immediately visit its official website. The slips contain essential details such as the exact date, time, and venue of each candidate’s examination.

The Board emphasized that adherence to assigned schedules is crucial, warning candidates against missing their allotted sessions, as rescheduling may not be guaranteed.

Support for Candidates with Disabilities

In a move to promote inclusivity, the Board said special arrangements have been made for candidates living with disabilities through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group. The initiative is designed to ensure equal access to the examination process, including tailored support and accessible testing environments.

Strong Warning on Examination Malpractice

JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining the credibility of the UTME, warning that strict sanctions will be enforced against examination malpractice and the possession of prohibited items at CBT centres.

Officials stressed that enhanced monitoring systems have been deployed across centres to detect and deter any form of irregularity during the exercise.

The Board assured candidates and stakeholders of a smooth, credible, and technology-driven examination process as preparations enter the final phase ahead of the 2026 UTME.
