A constellation of Nigeria’s political and legal elite gathered in Abuja to celebrate Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Johnson J.J. Usman, as he marked his 50th birthday in grand style.

The event attracted top figures including Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, jurists, politicians, and senior members of the Bar.

Governor Bago, who spoke warmly of the celebrant, described Usman as a brilliant and dependable lawyer, noting that their relatively recent acquaintance had quickly grown into a strong bond.

“We are here to celebrate a brother and a friend. Though we met just about three years ago, it feels like decades,” he said, adding that a large Niger State delegation attended in solidarity.

Governor Ododo, represented by Kogi State Attorney-General Muizudeen Yunus Abdullahi (SAN), also praised Usman’s professional rise, describing him as a valued ally and an outstanding legal mind.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan offered a personal tribute, describing Usman as not only her lawyer but also a trusted friend, while commending his family values.

Former Speaker Yakubu Dogara lauded the celebrant’s integrity, describing him as one of the few lawyers with an unblemished professional record.

“When you need solid legal representation, he is a first choice—and one whose hands are clean,” Dogara said.

Adewole Adebayo commended Usman’s commitment to justice and the rule of law, while former Attorney-General of the Federation Kanu Agabi offered prayers for his continued impact.

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, described Usman as an exceptional professional who has mastered the balance between career and family life.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Ejembi Eko also praised Usman’s advocacy skills and growing stature within the legal profession.

In his response, Usman expressed gratitude for the overwhelming goodwill, saying he was humbled by the calibre of dignitaries who honoured him.

The celebration was capped by the presence of his wife, children, and extended family, adding a personal and emotional dimension to the milestone event.
