The minority leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Lukman Adeleye, has attributed his decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the efforts and performances of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the magnanimity of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Lukman, who stated this at the APC secretariat in Odogbolu, where he declared his ambition to run on the party’s platform to return to the House of Assembly, said that despite being in opposition, the state governor never discriminated against him and his colleagues in the House.
He, however, appreciated the governor for always opening his doors widely for everyone regardless of their party differences, a situation he said is different from what they hear from colleagues from other states.
The lawmaker also expressed delight at being part of the state’s achievements, noting that they always support everything good the governor desires for the people of the state.
Lukman, who earlier met with the APC elders, led by Kalejaiye, at Ikoto-Ijebu, Odogbolu Local Council and ward leaders at Ogbo Agamegi, stressed that he is in the APC for the advancement of the party.
Adeleye, therefore, pledged his submission to the tenets of the party.
“We are ready to submit ourselves to the norms and dictates of the party. Whatever the elders say is what we will do. The interest of the Odogbolu state constituency is our priority. We are ready to align to the centre to bring the dividends of democracy to our people,” he said.
Meanwhile, the APC Ward 9 Chairman in Ibefun, Yekini Rasheed, described Adeleye as a good child who has come to join the party.
He, however, pleaded with the elders to accept him wholeheartedly.
In his response, Kalejaiye, while praying for the President and the Governor, said on behalf of the elders of the APC and the youth, “We accept our son, Adeleye, into our party with love.”
