A coalition of political stakeholders in Cross River North Senatorial District, operating under the aegis of JARILEAGUE, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu and Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe for re-election in 2027.
The endorsement followed an expanded meeting of the coalition and other stakeholders held in Calabar, where participants cited what they described as measurable progress across federal, state and constituency levels.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the group said its decision was based on the trio’s “demonstrated commitment to campaign promises, inclusive governance and tangible development outcomes,” particularly in infrastructure, education and economic empowerment.
Coordinator of the coalition, Prof. Egaga Patrick of the University of Calabar, said the endorsement was reached after what he described as a “careful and objective assessment” of the leaders’ performance.
“Our decision is anchored on their impact on the lives of the people. We stand with leaders who have shown the capacity to deliver and sustain progress,” he said.
Patrick added that despite prevailing economic challenges, there had been notable improvements in road connectivity and support for local economies.
A community leader, Ntufam Effenji Odey, commended the administrations for prioritising youth development, noting that increased access to education through scholarships and bursaries reflects “a strategic investment in future leadership.”
Also speaking, Prof. Jacob Owan described the endorsement as a reflection of public confidence in governance outcomes, adding that policies at both federal and state levels have laid a foundation for sustainable growth.
Similarly, Prof. Anthony Bullem said the three leaders had demonstrated consistency, particularly in education and human capital development, stressing that sustained investment in critical sectors would yield long-term benefits.
Gabriel Oko emphasised the importance of political stability, noting that continuity in leadership would consolidate ongoing reforms and strengthen policy implementation.
The coalition highlighted key initiatives of the Tinubu administration, alongside reforms by the Otu government, including education sector interventions, payment of WAEC fees and efforts to revive state assets such as Tinapa and Obudu Ranch Resort, while also pointing to constituency projects across the 54 wards in Cross River North.
The stakeholders maintained that their endorsement was unanimous, expressing confidence in the continued leadership of the trio, and calling for unity among supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
