Pledging to lead a tenure focused on consistent community projects, membership growth and greater support for vulnerable people in society, the newly installed president of Maryland Golden Lions Club, Ayomikun Olagoroye, has said that the organisation is determined to deepen its humanitarian work and expand its reach through projects that directly benefit the public.

Speaking at his public presentation and installation as the second president of the club during a ₦15 million fundraising luncheon held in Ikeja, Lagos, Olagoroye noted that the core mission of Lions International is service to humanity, and his administration would reflect that through people-centred programmes.

“Ideally, what Lions International stands for is service to humanity. We try as much as possible to carry out projects that have benefits to the public,” he said.

He explained that residents should expect initiatives that address pressing social needs, especially hunger relief and support for disadvantaged groups. “The club plans to visit displaced persons’ shelters, motherless homes and other communities in need, while mobilising resources to make meaningful contributions. What people should expect from me in this position is to have a lot of public-centred projects that cut across the well-being of our immediate society,” Olagoroye said.

He added that many people struggle daily to meet basic needs, making it necessary for organisations and individuals to think beyond personal comfort.

The new president also identified membership growth as one of the club’s major priorities, noting that more members would increase the organisation’s capacity to deliver larger projects. He said while the club had strong intentions and a desire to serve, it needed more like-minded people willing to contribute their time, resources and influence.

On the club’s growth, Olagoroye said Maryland Golden Lions Club was established less than two years ago and remains in its formative stage. A new club has the chance to shape its culture early and build a strong foundation through committed members.

Olagoroye added that one goal of his administration is to ensure the club does not miss its expected monthly projects. He stressed that consistency would be the defining mark of his leadership.
