In an unprecedented move, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 632,788 candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a statement issued on Friday night on his X handle, JAMB Spokesperson,Dr Fabian Benjamin (@FabianB58246501), disclosed that the results of candidates who wrote the examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026, are now available for checking.

The Board advised candidates to access their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration. It clarified that, for now, candidates can only view their results, as printing will be enabled at a later stage.

“The results of candidates who sat the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16 April 2026, have been released and are now available for viewing.

“To check their results, candidates should send UTMERESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number (SIM) used during registration.

“At this stage, candidates may view their results only; printing is not yet available,” the statement reads.

The Guardian reports that the examination, which commenced on April 16, is scheduled to continue until Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

The examination body also issued a stern warning against the manipulation or falsification of results, stressing that altering text messages from its official platforms to misrepresent scores constitutes a criminal offence.

According to the Spokesperson, it is already taking action against offenders, revealing that two candidates and one parent have been arrested for allegedly falsifying results using artificial intelligence and other electronic means.

He emphasised that any candidate found guilty of such malpractice would face the full weight of the law, adding that the examination is still ongoing nationwide and assured that more results would be released in batches as they are processed.
