All Progressives Congress (APC)

The Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Umar Buba has declared to run for the governorship seat in 2027, while pledging to improve the living conditions of the people.

The first time Senator formally declared in Magama, Toro local government area of the state on Saturday. Buba is the second aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to officially declare to succeed Bala Mohammed, an outgoing governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Senator said: “After deep reflection, wide consultations, and overwhelming calls from the people, I stand before you with humility and gratitude to Almighty Allah to formally declare my intention to contest for the office of Governor of Bauchi State in 2027,” he said.

He described his ambition as the beginning of a new journey toward a more prosperous, secure, and united Bauchi State, anchored on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“This journey is about inclusive growth, equitable development, transparent governance, peaceful coexistence, youth empowerment, technology-driven education, and above all, the security and welfare of our people,” he added.

Buba reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, describing it as the most viable platform to achieve his vision, and noted that the party has grown stronger despite being in opposition in the state.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership at the national level, which he said continues to strengthen the APC across the country.

Before Buba, a retired official of the NNPCL, Bala Wunti had early April, declared to run for governor in APC. Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar had resigned his position to pursue his governorship aspiration, also in APC.

The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate is also widely believed to be seeking the ticket of the party. Both Pate and Tuggar have been contesting the seat in the last three elections.

With Buba’s declaration, there will be a tough race amongst the aspirants except there is a consensus agreement to support one of the contenders.
