Toddler, two others killed in Ogun crash; hawker dies, seven injured in Lagos accidents

A Toddler and two other persons have died in a road crash at the Onipepeye axis of the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.

Seven others sustained injuries in the accident, which occurred on April 18, 2026, at about 5:40 p.m. The crash involved a Sino truck and an Opel passenger car.

The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, Afolabi Odunsi, said 10 persons were involved in the crash. He stated that seven victims sustained injuries, while three died.

Odunsi attributed the accident to speed violation and loss of control. He added that the injured were taken to the State Hospital, Ijaye, for treatment, while the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.

He noted that no items were recovered from the scene. The Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists to maintain safe speeds and ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition.

Meanwhile, a male hawker was killed in a separate incident in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos. The crash involved a Lexus jeep with registration number SMK 674 HY. Officers from the Ketu Division conveyed the body to the Badagry Mortuary.

In another incident, a Mazda commercial bus (MUS 231 YA) and a Lexus jeep (FKJ 23 HL) collided inward of the Ogudu toll gate. Seven passengers were injured and rescued at the scene.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) managed traffic, while operatives of the Ogudu Police Division and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) evacuated the injured to nearby hospitals.

The vehicles involved have been handed over to the police for further investigation.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, reiterated the agency’s call for greater road safety awareness, urging motorists to comply with traffic regulations and maintain safe speeds. He said the agency remains committed to protecting lives and ensuring smooth traffic flow across the state.
