One dead as motorcycle collides with truck along Sagamu–Benin Expressway

Accident scene

A commercial motorcyclist has died following a road crash along Ososa on the Sagamu–Benin Expressway.

The spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed that three persons were involved in the accident.

He said the crash involved a white and blue Howo truck with registration number G-1169 and a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number MEK 630 WV.

Akinbiyi stated that the two occupants of the truck were unhurt, while the motorcyclist, the sole rider of the Bajaj motorcycle, died.

He attributed the crash to reckless driving, explaining that the rider rammed into the truck while attempting a U-turn without checking for oncoming traffic.

TRACE operatives and police officers responded to the scene. The victim was taken to a general hospital, where a doctor confirmed his death. The body was later deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode.

The vehicles involved were cleared from the road and taken to the Odogbolu Police Division for further investigation.
