The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a young man identified as Christopher who was shot by suspected kidnappers in Auchi near Igbira camp.

Christopher was attacked while they took his partner away.

The Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem confirmed that eyewitnesses said the suspected kidnappers were in military uniforms.

“I am not saying they are soldiers but they said the people wore army camouflage. The young man was shot, and he was later rushed to a health facility but later confirmed dead. Efforts are in top gear to apprehend them and rescue the lady,” she said.

Regarding the attack that occurred on the Benin-Ore-Lagos expressway, she said operatives have embarked on bush combing.

“Apart from the woman that was rescued with a gunshot, no other person has been rescued but we are closing in on them. However, I can’t disclose everything that is being done because of security implications,” she added.
