.Party reaffirms commitment to internal democracy as Ajirotutu declares ambition

Following the emergence of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial District, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant, Giwa Wasiu Odulana Adetayo, popularly known as Ajirotutu, has officially declared his intention to contest, positioning himself as a youthful alternative in the race.

Speaking at the PDP Ward 3 Secretariat in Itantebo, Ijebu-Ode, Ajirotutu anchored his ambition on the need for generational leadership change, stressing that the future of the district lies in the hands of young, forward-thinking leaders.

Describing himself as “young, vibrant, and capable,” the aspirant said his entry into the race is aimed at repositioning Ogun East through strategic development across its nine local government areas.

He identified infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment as key pillars of his agenda, noting that his professional background as an estate developer gives him an edge in addressing infrastructural deficits in the district.

Ajirotutu also pledged to initiate programmes that would encourage more young people to return to school while creating opportunities for economic growth.

His declaration adds a new dimension to the contest as he prepares to face established political figures from rival parties. However, he expressed confidence in his chances, citing his strong connection with grassroots youths and the energy he brings to the race.

The event also highlighted increasing political activity within the PDP in Ogun East, with party leaders reaffirming their commitment to internal democracy. The PDP State Vice Chairman, Otunba Ayinde Awobadejo, assured aspirants of a transparent and level playing field ahead of the primaries.

With the presence of key stakeholders, including the State Organising Secretary and local government party leaders, Ajirotutu’s declaration underscores the growing importance of youth participation and party cohesion as the 2027 political landscape in Ogun East begins to take shape.
